We find that the best way to determine where new patients are coming from is to have a designated front office person take all new patient calls and ask new patients. A “new patient” record whether on paper or part of your computer program would include the question as a reminder. Many front office staff don’t recognize how important this is and they drop the ball. You can also have a monthly tracking form on Excel or simply a form on a clipboard but when it comes to wanting to know where new patients come you should have monthly statistics.
